So, have you ever sharpened your potato peeler?
I thought not.

We're definitely not talking rocket science here. The ol' potato peeler is a humble little tool, but like any other cutter, it could stand sharpening from time to time.

As you can see, there are two cutting edges, so the tool works for lefties or righties, forward or backstroke.

My sharpener of choice is a modest diamond pocket hone. It's a medium grit.

First, I'll flatten and dress down the outer edges. I'm taking care not to change the cutting angle

Next, I'll hone the inside edge. Here's where I'll actually be doing the sharpening.

I can sharpen from the inside without fear of changing the outside "attack angle."

A sharp peeler does a much faster job! I get thinner slices, and more control, too.
