Old Brazilian rosewood, new treatment
Michihiro Matsuda

Michi tells me that he got his inspiration for this unique heel carving from
the traditional Japanese samisen. The body is old growth Brazilian
rosewood and Italian spruce. The peghead veneers and some of the decorative
elements on the face are spalted Brazilian rosewood. (Spalting is the
pattern of black stain that results from fungus attacking dead trees.)
