Collings MF-5 Blond

Immediately after their introduction, the Collings F-5 mandolins have dominated
the scene at Gryphon's mandolin department. With the customary fit and finish,
it was no problem for Collings to make us this stunning blond one! As any maker
will tell you, there's no way to hide flaws in wood or workmanship under a clear
glossy blond finish. A typical Collings touch is to apply a lightly amber tinted
lacquer only on the wood, not the ivoroid binding. That way the binding looks
like ivoroid and the wood has a vintage coloration. It's more work than simply
blasting the same color over the entire instrument, but that's just one more
reason the Collings instruments stand out in the crowd.
