An original from the 1920s?

Well, I must admit this one surprised me. I saw it on an original Vega Tubaphone #3 plectrum banjo from about 1925. As far as I can tell, it appears to be an original item from about that period, factory made, and branded "Skinner."

It was cut to this shape, not bent.

So much for good banjo intonation being a modern pursuit. . .
