Guild Plectrum Guitar
© Frank Ford, 2001; Photos by FF
Like its short neck brother, the plectrum guitar was designed to accommodate
a banjo player looking for a new voice. This is a modest laminated back Guild
archtop guitar fitted with a four string neck for just that reason. What's unusual
is that it was made well after the real popularity of the plectrum banjo had
faded. Unfortunately, there's no serial number on this one, so we can only estimate
its date of manufacture as being sometime in the late 1950s.
