Weissenborn Style 1
© Frank Ford, 2002; Photos by FF
Hermann Weissenborn is best known for these Hawaiian steel guitars he made in
his Los Angeles workshop from about 1916 until his death in 1937. Made even
more popular by the likes of David Lindley, the Weissenborn Hawaiian is the
one most players prefer. This plain model is made entirely of koa, and is in
particularly fine condition. Because of the high tension steel strings, many
of these have suffered extensive damage while in storage.
