An early version
1904 Gibson "F"

© Frank Ford, 2006; Photos by FF

Here are a few shots of a fine early example of the Gibson "F" style mandolin. This one has many of the "original" features. The neck and sides wer constructed from one piece, with no interior blocks or linings. Notice the joint in the back - no attempt to make it a center joint. And, of course, don't miss the swell pearl and ebony trim!
