A 1926 San Francisco "primitive"
Mandolin by B. Jaster

It's always a treat to see a locally made vintage instrument. This one was made
in San Francisco in 1926 by B. Jaster, and the information on the small label
is all I have for reference. It's clearly a mandolin, and I won't mention its
obvious eastern European influence. Oops! I just did. OK, well, it does bear
a striking resemblance to some of the Macedonian and Yugoslavian ethnic instruments
we've had in the shop. . .
