Lyon & Healy "C" Mandolin
© Frank Ford, 2001; Photos by FF
Plainer than either the "A" or "B", this model was hardly an
economy affair. Fully appointed with the heavy carved hard rubber fingerrest, and
finely graduated spruce top and fancy maple back, this mandolin was certainly the
equal of the more famous Gibson "A" series. It is somewhat softer in tone
and projection because it has a short scale of 13" compared to Gibson's 13-3/4".
