Style No. 1
1909 Martin Mandola
© Frank Ford, 1999; Photos by FF
Around the turn of the Twentieth Century, Martin made a large number of "bowl"
back mandolins. During this period, only a very few other members of the mandolin
family bore the Martin trademark. This is one one of those rare instruments, a modest
but elegant style "1" with its rosewood ribs and spruce top, mahogany neck
and ebony fingerboard.
