Lathe File Holder

I got this idea from Guy Lautard for a simple way to keep a lathe file handy, clean and ready for use.  It's a piece of PVC plumbing strapped to a simple wall bracket and it's filled with light cutting oil.  When I pull the file out, it's covered with oil, so the teeth won't load up easily as I use it:

It also acts as a dipstick, so I can easily tell when to add more oil to the tube.  After I use it, I clean the file and stick it back in its holder.

I made the holder extra deep so the handle forms a stopper to keep out dust and chips:
