Rod End Salvage

When I've parted off and have a little plug left over, I think about how often I've been doing a quick repair around the shop, house or car, and how often I've wished I'd had a nonspecific spacer of some kind.

So instead of throwing out a stubby little scrap, I've adopted the habit of drilling a hole through it to make a thick washer:

Then, I just toss it into my salvage hardware drawer.

I find myself reaching for these things really often when I'm mounting a trellis to the house, or some other "rough" project.
