When you're making a saddle and want to check to see that the upper edge has
a nice rounded contour, hold a steel rule against it and view it with a strong
back light. The shadow of the straight edge will outline the contour quite clearly. Draw
the rule along the length of the saddle to make sure the contour is even all
along. It takes only a second or two to get a clear picture.
