If you want to sand
celluloid on a belt sander, the best precaution against fire is to hold
a backing board up tightly against the running sander. Then the celluloid
will be sheared off nicely without building up much heat. And, with no
clearance between the board and belt, the small piece can't become caught
between the machine table and the belt. Here I'm shaping a new heel cap
for a Martin D-28.
