I always try
to remember to thread on a regular nut anytime I have to cut a screw or bolt
to length, because even when I grind or file the threads, I may leave little
burs or deformation caused by the cutter or hacksaw. The quick and easy action
of unscrewing the nut cleans up the cut end of the threads so they will start
easily when I use the screw.
