Shop Tip #143

Particularly if you
do metal work in the same area as wood work, you should consider covers
for power tools. The oils that protect metal lathes and mills attract dust
like crazy, and you can simply skip the hassle of cleanup by covering those
tools. My lathe, here, has a simple canvas cover I made up for my metal
lathe by taking the rough rectangular dimensions of the tool and making
a cloth box to enclose it. There's no need for expert tailoring - if you
can do other shop projects, you can sew up a simple cover. OK, if you want
to be cute about it, you can tell your wife how "important" it is and how
you "can't" handle the sewing machine. . .
