Shop Tip #169

I use a keyless
chuck on my drill press, and I need to be sure not to run it in reverse
or the chuck will release. I drilled and tapped a 1/4-20 socket head
cap screw into the face plate of the switch. Now, to reverse the motor
I must take out the screw - making it unlikely I'll have a reversing accident. If
you look at the switch, you'll notice that the reverse position is
to the right, which is the forward direction on all my other tools - a
second reason for needing that little safety.
