If you use a belt
sander to make safe edges on a file, make sure to sand parallel
to the length of the file. That way you'll avoid making tiny file teeth
that can mar your work. If you use a grinder, then
finish up by smoothing the transverse scratches on a piece of silicon carbide
paper laid on your bench top.
