My shop vac came with a very long cord, so I made up a simple bracket from PVC pipe for winding it up. If I wind it in this "figure eight" pattern, it won't be all twisted and tangled when I unwind it as it would if I simply wound it round and round, because the coils reverse as I wind it on.
