If  I need to whack off a bunch of small rods or sticks to a similar approximate length, I just pull my band saw away from the wall, measuring the distance from the wall to the blade. Then, the wall becomes my stop, and I can zip through a stack of sticks lightning fast, and cut them within about 1/4" inch of each other:
