I was modifying a screw head and wanted to cut a narrow screwdriver slot, but the kerf of my hacksaw blade was just too wide, so I gave the blade a few passes on a grinder to remove the "set" from the teeth near the end. Naturally it's the middle of the blade that gets most of the wear so I didn't even reduce the useful life of the blade by much:
