For safety's sake, keep that grinding wheel tool support CLOSE to the wheel to avoid pieces being sucked in and fingers jammed, or worse. It takes only a few seconds to move the support within 1/16" of the wheel. In fact, you can use an old business card as a feeler gauge and make the gap even smaller with hardly any effort at all.
