I have a drawer where I keep a lot of assorted wrenches that aren't part of sets I have mounted on the wall.  To cut the confusion by about half, I dunk the metric ones in blue stain or paint.  Amazingly, the paint sticks well enough that I have to reapply it about once a decade.
