Here's a bit of band saw technique.  I'm making some shallow notches in a piece of pine by first cutting the ends of the notches, and then cutting to about the depth of the saw teeth, sliding the piece sideways, cutting a bit deeper, sliding back, and repeating the move until I reach my limit line. It's an amazingly accurate and fast method of work.
